Jellycat is a great example of this in London retail design, creating a space of interaction for shoppers and immersing people in the buying experience that inspired shoppers to buy a product just to join in. The pop-up was designed to be a fish and chip shop, with all products being handled with tongs, staff wearing chip shop aprons, and toys wrapped in newspaper themed paper. The experience stood out, invited people in, and touched on the emotional response inspired by positive memories of getting a classic fish and chips takeaway.

Shop fitting innovation always starts with ideas, and making them come to life without missing on any detail. Instead of inspiring shoppers to buy, inspire them to explore. This can be done a few different ways, or example:

–          Lighting & Materials

These can tell a story just on their own. Sustainability focused brands will have exposed displays that show the recycled materials, or minimalistic fashion brands will have moody lighting over heavily lit stores.

–          Modular fixtures

Modular fixtures are built to fit brand products, but then also offer the ability to adapt along with changing layouts. Stores can now explore options, grow, and change to fit fun new ideas.

–          Creative use of space

As mentioned before with Jellycat, a retail space can be anything. Leaning into brand values and messages, the space is left to portray them in any way. The store is your oyster!
